The Historic Anderson Post Office, originally constructed in the early 20th century, has long been a cornerstone of Anderson’s architectural and civic heritage. SHLTR had the honor of leading the design of the restoration effort, guided by Preservation Consultant Kyle Campbell, breathing new life into the building while preserving its timeless character.
The project focused on maintaining the post office’s original charm — from its stately façade and Beaux Arts detailing to its soaring interior proportions — while adapting the space to meet the functional and aesthetic needs of Coldwell Banker Caine. Through careful study and creative design, SHLTR’s team seamlessly blended historic preservation with modern innovation, ensuring the building’s continued relevance in Anderson’s vibrant downtown.
To complete the transformation, Amy Emery Interior Design brought the interiors to life with a thoughtful and elegant design approach that complements the building’s historic framework. Her team’s expertise in blending texture, color, and lighting helped create a warm and inviting environment that honors the past while welcoming the future.
This project reflects SHLTR architects’ commitment to revitalizing the communities we serve by celebrating the unique stories written into their architecture. The renewed Anderson Post Office now stands as both a tribute to local history and a testament to the power of collaboration and design.
This project won a Preservation Honor award in 2025 at the South Carolina Historic Preservation Awards, hosted by Governor Henry McMaster.
