The Spartanburg County Pet Resource Center was created to support a simple but important mission: keeping people and pets together. Bringing animal housing, veterinary care, adoption services, staff workspaces, and community resources together under one roof, the facility provides an efficient and welcoming environment for animals, visitors, staff, and volunteers.
The 26,600 square foot facility consolidates a wide range of animal care functions within a purpose-built design focused on operational efficiency and animal welfare. The program includes indoor/outdoor dog kennels, cat housing, medical and exam spaces, isolation areas, adoption and clinic lobbies, and flexible community gathering space. By integrating these services into a single location, the center streamlines daily operations while enhancing the experience for both animals and the public.
In addition to the indoor spaces, 18,600 square feet of outdoor space includes fenced animal play yards as well as temporary accommodations for farm animals. These dedicated outdoor environments support animal health, well-being, and behavioral enrichment throughout their stay.
The design emphasizes durability, maintainability, and long-term value while creating a safe and supportive environment for the animals and people. Every aspect of the project was planned to advance the center’s ultimate goal: helping animals return home or find loving new homes as quickly as possible.
